Tuna and Samson are our speciality! But the peninsula’s coast isn’t only about angling. Its sheltered bays and coves are ideal for aquatic activities. You can swim, ski, surf or dive. For information on the rules and regulations that apply to recreational fishing in South Australia, visit www.pir.sa.gov.au/fisheries Blue Swimmer crab Crabs can be caught all year-round but summer months are more productive, especially if wading and raking for crabs. Australian salmon Anywhere there is a headland, bluff or surf area, Australian salmon are the flavour of the day. Salmon can be caught all year-round using pilchards or lures for bait. Southern Rock lobster Rugged coastline areas on the southern shores of Yorke Peninsula are home to Southern Rock lobster. These tasty little morsels are allowed to be caught in the crayfish season (noon on 1 November to 6pm on 31 May). Rock lobster pots must be registered with PIRSA Fisheries and Aquaculture prior to use.
